         ** DEBRA RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD FOR "GOD HAS TWELVE NEW ANGELS" **

           

In March 2007, Debra took home the "2007 Horizon Award Songwriter Of The Year" from the North America Country Music Association, Intl (NACMAI) for her song "God Has Twelve New Angels".  Her song, written in honor of the twelve Sago miners killed in her hometown, also won the "2006 New Country Songwriter of the Year Award" from the Tennessee Country Music Association (TCMA), and brought her to this national level award.  This year's Tenth Annual NACMAI Award Show & Competition was held at the Country Tonite Theatre in Pigeon Forge, TN.  The NACMAI Hall of Fame Awards is known for their special guests and for honoring legendary performers and industry personnel who have made significant contributions to the country music industry.  Special guests this year were Jeanne Pruett, John Conlee, Jeannie Seely, Jim Ed Brown, Helen Cornelius, Ronny Robbins and Stonewall Jackson.

 

** DEBRA RECEIVES ANOTHER TCMA AWARD **

 

 

On November 5, 2006, Debra received the "2006 New Country Songwriter of the Year Award" from the Tennessee Country Music Association (TCMA) for her song,  "God Has Twelve New Angels", written in honor of the twelve Sago miners killed in her home town.  She was presented the award by TCMA Executive Director, Michael de' Bills.  The Awards Show was held at the River Plantation Conference Center in Sevierville, TN.  Congratulations Debra!

 

Debra will be moving on to the North America Country Music Association, Intl (NACMAI) level, which will be held at the Country Tonite Theatre in Pigeon Forge, TN in March 2007.

 

 

DEBRA'S POETRY INCLUDED IN SAGO MINE CHAPBOOK - 07/27/06

Debra's poem "God Has Twelve New Angels", has been included in A place of...Amazing Grace, a collection of stories, poems and notes from writers across America, reflecting how deeply they were affected by the Sago Mine accident in Upshur County.  The book was published as a memorial to the miners of West Virginia an a gift to their families.

DEBRA'S "MAY GOD BLESS THE USA" FEATURED IN JULY 4, 2006 JOYCE RAMGATIE - Today's Stars & Yesterday's Legends

Debra's poem "May God Bless The USA" was featured in the July 4 Joyce Ramgati - Today's Stars & Yesterday's Legends.  Joyce's website promotes major independent artists of the world and includes the "TOP 200" International Country Music Air-Play Chart.

 

"May God Bless The USA" was written during Operations Desert Shield/Storm as a tribute to soldiers who have always and continue to fight for "the freedom we hold so dear".  In 1991, the poem was included in the "World's Largest Poem for Peace" sponsored by The International Society of Poets and presented to the Secretary General of the United Nations.  

 

 

WV WRITERS CONFEENCE AT CEDAR LAKES IN RIPLEY, WV

        

 

In June 2006, Debra attended the 29th Annual WV Writers Spring Conference, which took place at the Cedar Lakes Conference Center in Ripley, WV.  The WV Writers, Inc., of which Debra is a member, promotes writing as a form of art.  The conference included three days of writing workshops, people's choice competitions for both Prose and Poetry, Writers' Wall writing display and competition, informal discussions, social activities, entertainment and a banquet/awards ceremony.  Debra's merchandise was on display and for sale in the conference bookstore during the event.

 

 

NORTH AMERICAN COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION, INT.(NACMAI)

           

In March, 2006, Debra competed in the North American Country Music Association, Int. (NACMAI) New/Modern Country Songwriter of the Year category for her song, "Eternal Love".  The Awards Show & Competition was held at the Country Tonite Theatre in Pigeon Forge, TN.  Special guests were Rhonda Vincent and The Rage and "Whispering" Bill Anderson..

 The NACMAI Hall of Fame Awards is known for their special guests each year.  Debra has had the honor of meeting Country Legends such as Jeanne Pruett, Jett Williams, Jim Ed Brown, Helen Cornelius, Stonewall Jackson, John Conlee, Donnie Sumner, Dottie Rambo, T.G. Debra  is a proud supporter of the American Heart Association.  For several years, she has donated merchandise to the telethon.  For the 2006 event, Debra donated a "Sweetheart Package", which included an autographed copy of her novel, "Life's Second Chances", her book of poetry, "Thoughts From Within", her CD single, "Eternal Love", and a stuffed animal.  Congratulations to the winner, and thanks for calling in your pledges.

In October 2005, Debra received the "2005 New/Modern Country Songwriter of the Year Award" from the Tennessee Country Music Association (TCMA) for her song,  "Eternal Love".  Debra was presented the award by TCMA Director/Founder Peggy Franck and Executive Director, Michael de' Bills.  The Competition and Awards Show was held at the Showplace Dinner Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN.

DEBRA RECEIVES RECOGNITION IN TEXAS FOR "ETERNAL LOVE"

Debra has been featured in several issues of "Country Western Corner", a monthly Entertainment News magazine published by EH King Music in Santa Fe, TX.  In the February 2005 issue, E.H. King Music and Entertainment News featured an exclusive review of Debra's "Eternal Love".

"Country Western Corner" is a premier entertainment monthly magazine which reaches out to thousands of friends of country music, other songwriters, producers, DJ Radio Programmers and the Publishes who make things happen in this wonderful business of music.  Under the heading "Catch This Music Catch A Rising Star", the review said "KELLY COBERLY - DKQM - "Eternal Love" is a promotion single that was written by DEBRA K. QUICK, was inspired by "Life's Second Chances" a  romance novel she has written.  Kelly Coberly is yet another Superstar artist well-known in the radio world for her hit "Ya Wanna Bet?"  Given the exposure to radio this song will do both ladies justice.  A great "TEAM" with a great song."

Relay For Life 

Debra is a proud supporter of the Upshur County Relay For Life in Buckhannon, WV.  The annual event raises money for the American Cancer Society.  The 2004 Relay For Life raised over $100,000 for the fight against cancer.  A special thanks goes out to all the sponsors and to all those who formed teams and walked this year to help raise money for such a great cause.  You helped make this year's Relay For Life a great success.

 

SONGWRITERS FESTIVAL AT LORETTA LYNN'S RANCH

Songwriters Festival

In June 2003, Debra attended the First Annual Songwriter's Festival, held at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN.  Debra's daughter, Kelly Coberly,  performed her original song, "Eternal Love" during the event and received many great reviews.  The Songwriters Festival brought together Songwriters of all genres from all over the world, and was a great success.  The Festival also included performances by Nashville Recording Artist & Songwriter, Michael Peterson ("From Here To Eternity"), as well as performances from some of Nashville's best Hit Song Writers.

WV Romance Novelist to Sign books in Charleston

   Charleston, WV  (HNN) - West Virginia author, Debra Quick will be signing copies of her mystery romance novel from 2-5 pm on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006 at Borders Express in the Charleston Town Center Mall.

   "Life's Second Chances" takes place on a ranch in Tyler, West Virginia.  The author added a personal touch to her novel by incorporating two of her original poems, and each of her grandchildren's names into the story.  The fictional town of Tyler, West Virginia was named after her oldest grandchild.

   Although the story is fictional, there is a chapter in the novel where the characters visit her hometown of Buckhannon for their annual West Virginia Strawberry Festival.
 
Little did Quick know that only a week after the release of her novel, she would be living its title after being involved in a head-on collision near Yeager Airport.
 
Quick stated, "It's a miracle I survived the accident, and I've been given a second chance at life."
 
Quick is currently working on the sequel, "Angels Watching Over Us", and anticipates it's completion in 2007.
 
Not only is Quick a novelist, but she is also a community news correspondent for The Record Delta, a poet and songwriter. She is a member of the WV Writers Inc, as well as the Tennessee Country Music Association (TCMA). She just recently traveled to Sevierville, TN, where she was presented the "2006 TCMA New Country Songwriter of the Year" award for her "God Has Twelve New Angels". In March, Quick will be competing in the International level at the North American Country Music Association, Int, to be held at the Country Tonite Theatre in Pigeon Forge, TN. She was also presented the "2005 TCMA New Country Songwriter of the Year" award for her "Eternal Love".
 
Debra lives in Buckhannon, WV with her husband of 34 years, Charlie. They have three daughters and seven grandchildren.

    Morgantown, WV (HNN) – West Virginia author Debra Quick will be signing copies of her mystery romance novel from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005 at Barnes & Noble, 3000 University Town Centre Blvd. in Morgantown.

   "Life's Second Chances" is a romance novel which takes place on a ranch in Tyler, West Virginia. Debra added a personal touch to her novel by incorporating two of her original poems, and each of her grandchildren's names into the story. The town of Tyler, West Virginia was named after her oldest grandchild.

    Although the story is fictional, there is a chapter in the novel where the characters visit her hometown of Buckhannon for their annual West Virginia Strawberry Festival.

   Little did Quick know that only a week after the release of her novel, she would be living its title. She was involved in a head-on collision near Yeager Airport in Charleston. She suffered cuts, bruises and a broken neck.

   Quick stated, "It's a miracle I survived the accident, and I've been given a second chance at life."

   Quick is currently working on the sequel, "Angels Watching Over Us", and anticipates it's completion in 2006.

Author Returns to Indiana for Booksigning

Debra Quick, author of Life's Second Chances, has been invited back to Indiana where she will be selling and signing copies of her mystery romance novel. She will be at Latta's Vintage Market at 2401 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana from 8:00 a.m. - noon on Saturday, June 25. Debra experienced her first flight in April when she flew to Indianapolis to promote her newly released novel. Debra had a successful trip as she sold copies of her novel and made contacts for future orders and book signings. Little did she know that within days of her return to her home in West Virginia that she would be living the title of her novel. Debra was involved in a horrible automobile accident and sustained multiple injuries. She continues to make progress daily. Debra looks forward to another successful visit as she travels across Ohio and Indiana, making contacts along the route.

Little did Debra Quick know, the title of her recently released romance novel, Life's Second Chances, would become her destiny. A week after her novel's release, Debra was heading to an interview, where her novel was to be placed in the airport gift shop, when she was involved in a head-on automobile accident. Miraculously, Debra survived the crash, although she sustained multiple injuries, including a broken neck and internal bleeding. Although she must take it easy, Debra has forged ahead and has had three successful book signings.

First Flight for New Author

Debra Quick, author of Life's Second Chances, experienced her first flight recently when she flew to Indianapolis, IN to promote her newly released novel. Debra had a successful trip as she sold copies of her novel and made contacts for future orders and book signings.

Double Booksignings

Debra Quick, author of Life's Second Chances, had double booksignings on May 28, 2005. Debra sold and signed copies of her newly released mystery romance novel at The Book Store in Buckhannon, WV from 10-noon. She then traveled to Belington, WV and signed copies at the Twin Lakes Campground from 2-4. Campers enjoyed discussing the novel, having their picture taken with the author and enjoyed refreshments. Both booksignings were a huge success.

Romance Novel Receives Rave Reviews

"Life's Second Chances", by Debra Quick, has been receiving rave reviews since it's recent release. "Life's Second Chances" is a fictional mystery romance novel which takes place on a ranch in Tyler, West Virginia. Debra added a personal touch to her novel by incorporating two of her original poems, and each of her six grandchildren's names into the story. The town of Tyler was named after her oldest grandchild. Although the story is fictional, there is a chapter in the book where the characters visit the West Virginia Strawberry Festival in Upshur County. A soft blend of romance, tears, laughter, suspense and intrigue will hold your interest from beginning to end. Debra is working on a sequel to her novel titled, "Angel's Watching Over Us" and anticipates it's completion in 2006.
